5/18 CT.com Presents: An evening with DAS Musicians at The Aetna Theater in The Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford (Doors 7:30p/Music 8:30p, $10 cover) Check it Out
DAS Musicians is a collective born out of mutual respect and a love of music. DAS musicians is a group of four award winning CT singer/songwriter/lyricists (Becky Kessler, Jennifer Hill, Kate Callahan, John Torres) who came together after meeting at the first annual CT music awards. They were all nominated in the best singer/songwriter category and although only one of them could win (Becky Kessler!) they all ended up benefiting from being nominated that night. After meeting at the awards ceremony and realizing their common goals, the group got together for a brainstorming session to create a tour of the “Best of CT.”
CT.com is proud to present and evening with DAS Musicians where each will perform their own material, as well as, share the stage with both one another and special guests. This is a special evening of music not to be missed.

THE ALCHEMYSTICS: Fueled by their passion to explore beyond the edges of traditional musical boundaries and their diverse ethnic and musical backgrounds, the Alchemystics blend reggae, politically infused hip-hop, gritty soul, hard-driving rock, and pulsing Jamaican, Cuban and Trinidadian rhythms into an utterly unique and distinctively original new sound. The result is modern-day roots music with global appeal – an alchemy of ancient musical traditions; intricate, intelligent wordplay; elementally raw soul; irresistible hooks; deep, driving rhythms; and old-school vocal harmonies – fired by the Alchemystic’s unique blend of intensity, passion, and sheer artistic chemistry into a powerful, contemporary, and unmistakable sound.

5/4 Rustic Overtones at Sully’s in Hartford (9pm, $10, 21+) Check it Out!
Rustic is a funk/rock act out of Maine that has recorded with David Bowie and toured with Ray LaMontaigne. It features among its seven members Ryan Zoidis of Lettuce, and Dave Gutter, who has written songs for several major motion pictures and for Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, and Eric Krasno. Rustic Overtones has sold more records in Maine than any other band in history, they are Maine’s most popular rock act, and they won BEST LIVE ACT 2013 at the New England Music Awards.
From the start of their career twenty years ago playing basement parties in Portland, Maine, Rustic Overtones has wooed audiences of all kinds with music exploding with character and imagination. Combining elements of rock, ska, jazz and funk, they quickly rose to prominence as one of New England’s most eminent rock bands.
In the late 90’s, the band was signed by the legendary Clive Davis to Arista Records, and in 1999 they went into the studio with guest appearances by David Bowie, Imogene Heap, and Funkmaster Flex, and the result was the groundbreaking “Viva Nueva”.
They will be headlining the Hard Rock Cafe on May 3, as well as Portland’s State Theatre in July. 10 of their last 14 shows in New England have sold out. They haven’t been to CT in about a year, and are stoked to be back.

This particular song swells my eyes with tears and gives me the chills. What beautiful chemistry Klok and Angela have on stage during this performance. A MUST SEE! Please disregard the “not so good” camera audio.
